Wanda Ings started training in 1985, making history in her native New Zealand, as the youngest female trainer to hold a licence after a successful stint riding at picnic race meetings.
Raised in New Zealand, Wanda loved horses and was encouraged by her uncle to take up training.
One of the most rewarding aspects of racehorse training is being able to rejuvenate tried gallopers who have lost their zest for racing, and this is a task that Wanda Ings excels at.
Additionally, Wanda has an exceptional eye for purchasing tried horses. Halfametreshort and Fetes Alfresco were purchased from major stables, and have since gone on to metropolitan success under Wanda’s guidance.
However, the stable’s greatest success was when Two Towers finished an extremely gallant second in the Listed WJ McKell Cup at Rosehill.
Wanda has also assisted in the preparation of interstate horses.
The satisfaction of seeing a horse perform well for its owners is the motivating force behind Wanda Ings.
